First Generation of Gettysburg Based Cycloramas

Situated on the Baltimore Pike atop Cemetery Hill. This structure's successor on Cemetery Ridge will soon meet its fate as progress continues toward a 2008 opening of the third generation Gettysburg Cyclorama.

"Knaps"

Captain Joseph Knap
The battery's organizer and first commander.
Captain Charles A. Atwell
Then a Lieutenant, Atwell commanded the battery of 6-10 pounders at Gettysburg.
Promoted to Captain on July 16, 1863.
Died in Chattanooga, TN on November 2, 1863 of wounds sustained in battle at Wauhatchie.
The unit also operated on Culp's Hill and has a monument at that location.
